Home shoppers from Brazil showed more interest in South Florida properties than any other international market during January, according to the Miami Association of Realtors.

Its website hosted 192,987 visits in January, a 47 percent increase from the same month a year ago. Visitors from Brazil were the top international market. That comes amid an economic slowdown for South America’s largest county and a political corruption crisis.

“The Miami real estate market continues to attract buyers and investors from around the world,” said Christopher Zoller, 2015 Miami Residential president, said in a news release. “Miami remains affordable compared to other world-class, global cities and offers many benefits and amenities, including strategic location, moderate year-round weather, multicultural environment, and an exciting lifestyle.”

After Brazil, the rest of the top 10 countries for visits to in January were Colombia, Russia, Venezuela, Canada, Argentina, India, the United Kingdom, Italy and France.

Of course, plenty of people were looking to relocate to South Florida from other parts of the United States. The top states for traffic to in January were California, Texas, New York, Georgia and Illinois.
