A real estate boom is underway in the trendy district of Edgewater, located just north of downtown Miami, The Miami Herald reports.

Developers, including Melo Group and The Related Group, have purchased parcels in the area with plans for high-rise condominium and apartment projects, the Herald reports. Melo Group currently has seven projects planned for the bayfront area.

The Related Group's Icon Bay condominium project in Edgewater launched sales last September and is currently described as "basically sold out," Related President of Condo Development Carlos Rosso told the Herald.

The boundaries of the Edgewater area are typically described as the Julia Tuttle Causeway to the north, Northeast 17th Street to the south, Biscayne Bay to the east and Biscayne Boulevard to the west or farther west to the railroad tracks, according to the Herald.
